Terms and Conditions

LAST UPDATE OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS - AUGUST 8th, 2020

Disclaimer

As neuroscientist and author Sam Harris writes in his book Waking Up, ultimately Mindfulness aims at developing a non-grasping attitude toward any thought or emotion:

“Being mindful is not a matter of thinking more clearly about experience; it is the act of experiencing more clearly, including the arising of thoughts themselves. Mindfulness is a vivid awareness of whatever is appearing in one’s mind or body—thoughts, sensations, moods—without grasping at the pleasant or recoiling from the unpleasant.”

For individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives this clarity of experience can prove overwhelming.  If you are someone who has experienced trauma, and you are interested in developing a mindfulness practice, it is recommended that you contact your family physician for a referral to a local Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy program which will be guided by a certified psychotherapist or medical professional.

The Mindful  Parents and Kids program is intended as an introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation, but it is not a qualified substitute for an 8 week Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy or Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program.  These programs are led by trained professionals and designed to support those individuals struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, depression, addiction and chronic pain who want to develop a mindfulness practice.   They are typically offered on-site within a clinic environment where professional support is available,  should it be required.

Under no circumstances should this program be:

  • Considered a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, medication or treatment.  Please consult your physician regarding the applicability of any opinions or recommendations with respect to your symptoms or medical condition.

  • Listened to while operating a vehicle.

If a parent has any concerns, questions or doubts regarding their child’s well-being, they should seek medical and/or psychological treatment from a qualified individual and should not solely rely upon the opinions expressed in the Mindful Parents & Kids Belly Buddy Program.
